Oct 5, 2012 · The original Lelli’s restaurant on Woodward Avenue was unique. It had morphed into the place everyone remembers. There were all sorts of little rooms and coves and sometimes felt like a maze. I never asked, but presumed that the restaurant grew by acquiring the buildings adjacent to it, as that is how it felt as you walked around. The restaurant was founded by Nerio Lelli in Detroit in 1939 and has since been passed down through generations of the family. Today, Kasey, one of the family members and the manager of the restaurant, continues the legacy of providing warm and special experiences to customers, both new and old. After more than 50 years, Lelli's is still home to the best filet mignon in the city -- charred on the outside and tender and juicy inside.
